Stichting DON (Diabetes Research Foundation Netherlands) is committed to research into a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Thanks to the financial support of the Stichting DON and the Diabetes Fonds (Dutch Diabetes Research Foundation), the LUMC recently was able to make a major breakthrough in its research. Working with a team of researchers, Prof. Dr. Jaap Jan Zwaginga and Dr. Tanja Nikolic investigated cell therapy as a possible solution for type 1 diabetes.

La Plume Media interviewed them on camera and edited the footage to share the results online. Niels Wester, a diabetic and one of the nine participants in the cell therapy study, is also featured in the video.
