An overseas job for Lam Research Corporation

Last month, La Plume owner and team member Veerle flew to the US, to direct the virtual Technology Conference of Lam Research Corporation. Lam Research is an American company in the semiconductor industry that focuses on the design, manufacture, marketing and service of semiconductor processing devices. Every year the company organizes a Technology Conference, where employees are updated on technological developments within the company. An event where employees inspire, and learn from, each other. This year the conference was virtual for the first time. The main contractor for the job, NEP, teamed up with MediaMonks and La Plume Media to design the broadcast. A team of more than ten people from the Netherlands traveled to San Francisco, California, to ensure the two-day live broadcast was a success.

Six months prior to the overseas trip, the bulk of the preparations had already been finalized. MediaMonks built a virtual platform where visitors could “walk around” during the event to visit different “stages,” just as you would during a physical gathering. During the interactive event, keynote speakers and staff gave presentations, where people could ask questions live and then have the opportunity to go deeper into topics in virtual discussion rooms. For this particular production, La Plume Media was responsible for drafting the overall content of the main stage, handling the design of some of the keynote speakers’ presentations, and for coming up with the creative concept for the opening video.

It was the first time Lam Research had hosted the Technology Conference online. The company was super enthusiastic about the final result.

Lubab Sheet-Davis, VP at Lam Research Corporation:

“We worked with Veerle and La Plume Media on our first ever virtual engineering and tech conference. Lam Research is a $12B semiconductor equipment maker and our engineering conference is the premier event for our technical community. This was not a standard virtual experience so we teamed with NEP and MediaMonks to create something unique. In all honesty, it was far more complex than we realized; a 48 hour event, produced over two days with a mix of live, in-studio sessions, live and pre-recorded executive keynotes, pre-recorded technical sessions and live engagement opportunities. Veerle was central to helping the team navigate through the turbulent waters both before and during the event. She immediately became a member of our core team; she was fully engaged, offered great recommendations on segments that the employees would enjoy, took full ownership of the run of the show and offered help with the script. She exuded grace under pressure, built tremendous confidence and trust with her attention to detail and was a delight to work with. We had a fantastic outcome. She has our highest recommendation!
